Keeping the Lights On

Following the automation and unmanning of coastal lighthouses, it is necessary to continuously monitor operation of the lamp and its power supply, and to raise alarms if any malfunction occurs

dataTaker Solution

dataTaker's DT600 data loggers were installed in the lighthouses to monitor operation of the lamp, and to monitor the performance of the solar panels and associated battery sets which power the lamp.

The loggers transmitted the various data collected and any alarm states which indicated malfunctions to staff at head office via radio or satellite telemetry links.

The data loggers on site were connected to head office either via a satellite telephone link or a radio modem link. This link was managed by dataTaker's Modem Manager.

This remote telemetry solution provides a reliable stand-alone battery backed monitoring system.
