AT&T Shifts Wireless Network from 2G to 3G Modems

TandD 3G Mobile Base Station Offers Reliable Cloud-Based Data Storage

As of early this year, AT&T has discontinued service on their 2G wireless network. Devices not supporting 3G or 4G LTE specifications may also be affected by the 2G shutdown and may need to be upgraded. However, T-Mobile is still maintaining 2G for Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, which includes wireless data loggers.

At CAS DataLoggers we offer 3G temperature monitoring systems from several manufacturers including the 3G Mobile Base Station from T&D, Japan’s #1 data logger manufacturer. The 3G Base Station is also compatible with T&D’s free Cloud WebStorage Service. With prices starting at just $497, T&D wireless data loggers are ideal for any business or organization.

2G Network Shutdown

With AT&T’s 2G GSM 850/1900MHz shutdown completed, the minimum requirement needed to operate on their network is 3G WCDMA (UMTS) HSPA 850/1900 MHz Band 2 and Band 5. This prevents 2G users from using AT&T’s network to use data services or to send/receive calls and texts.

T&D RTR-500MBS-A Mobile Base Station for 3G Cellular Phone NetworkT&D 3G Mobile Base Station:

  • Remote Data Monitoring and Access via Mobile (3G) Network
  • Wireless Data Collection from T&D Data Loggers (Remote Units) to T&D 3G Base Unit
  • On-Site Warnings & Alert Notifications to Mobile Devices
  • GPS Function for Location Info
  • Data Access and Monitoring from Smart Phone / Tablet Browser

The T&D 3G Mobile Base Station collects recorded data from up to 20 T&D RTR-500 Series Remote Units via wireless communication, sending the data to specified E-mail addresses or to an FTP server over mobile networks. It can be deployed anywhere within coverage of a mobile network, expanding coverage for data collection and monitoring. This includes areas where LAN connection is difficult, and environments where network or PCs are not available (trucks in transit, etc.)

For alarm capability, the 3G Base Station also continually monitors T&D Remote Units for user-set alarm warnings. When detecting an alarm event, it immediately sends warning reports via e-mail or SMS, so users always stay in the know about potentially unsafe conditions.

Free Online Service for Cloud Data Storage:

Sending your data online has never been easier! T&D’s free WebStorage Service is perfect for viewing and sharing data recorded in remote places, and also for allowing several people to view the same recorded data anytime, anywhere. Data storage capacity is 20MB.

Users can also check logger battery level and radio signal strength between the Base Unit and Remote Unit. Recorded data can be transmitted to the WebStorage Service from any compatible T&D product.

Data transmitted to the T&D WebStorage Service can be accessed via your browser from any location as long as an internet connection is available. Mobile device apps are also available for devices running iOS and Android.

Note: To use the 3G Mobile Base Station, users must purchase a SIM card from a carrier or mobile network service.
