CAS DataLoggers Adds New Upgrades to its Accsense Server

Secure Database Stores and Protects All Your Crucial Data

CAS DataLoggers is pleased to announce several significant improvements to our secure Accsense database for our Accsense monitoring and alarming systems, including a new backup policy which automatically provides a replicated copy of the database. Now when Accsense writes data to the primary server, it also copies the information to a log file in the secondary database. We have also restored missing data from the late July outage and are transitioning to a new server vendor.

As a result of these upgrades, our server now takes a daily snapshot of the primary database, while the secondary database now automatically self-updates it. Accsense retains all your data in the event of a problem, as the secondary database is now continually backed up 5 minutes behind the primary. We’ve also recently archived data more than 2 years old to reduce the size of the database, improving its performance.

We’re also working to modify the server transaction model--currently every measurement taken from an Accsense data logger enters Accsense as a separate database transaction, but in the near future, data from one pod will be inserted into the Accsense database at one step, again with the overall goal of improving performance.

CAS DataLoggers has also begun migrating to another major hosting provider. As part of this we’ll be changing the system architecture to provide additional redundancy at every level to augment the Accsense design.

Accsense monitoring and alarming systems feature advanced warning capabilities, sending email, pager or phone alerts whenever an alarm triggers so that personnel can rely on a phone call no matter when an emergency occurs. Additionally, Accsense helps compliance with demanding industry standards across a wide variety of industries. For example, in the healthcare field, patient privacy issues such as HIPAA are often a problem for other wireless systems’ lack of security, but Accsense removes this risk with its secure data encryption and storage on the protected Accsense servers.

Accsense is already widely used in industry and life sciences applications including machine monitoring, , biomedical, in pharmacies and bloodbanks, cleanroom monitoring, and much more. Accsense Product Manager Dana Kennedy comments, “Many of our customers have a few freezers or fridges they need to monitor, and Accsense is an extremely cost-effective way for them to get into Power Over Ethernet and wireless monitoring at a high level of functionality.”
