Rugged dataTaker DT80M Features Integrated 2G/3G Cellular Modem
CAS DataLoggers has teamed up with popular manufacturer dataTaker to offer customers the new DT80M Intelligent Universal Input Data Logger, comprehensive data acquisition system featuring the same functionality as the bestselling DT80 model but adding a built-in 2G/3G cellular modem allowing users remote access and automated data transfers to email or FTP. Handling remote monitoring and control tasks in real-time, the DT80M logger has been specifically designed for a wide variety of remote and outdoor projects where frequent access to the logger is impractical, including agriculture, environmental monitoring, vehicle testing, weather stations, hydropower, and many other applications. This low-power, easy to use solution also boasts an extensive suite of advanced alarm and programming capabilities allowing the loggers to process measurements and automatically initiate actions.
This robust and intelligent monitoring device features a built-in LCD display and 5 to 15 universal analog sensor channels with a ± 30Vdc input measurement range measuring at 18-bit resolution. The DT80 can measure temperature, voltage, current, 4-20mA loops, resistance, bridges, strain gauges, and frequency, and its channels are easily expandable up to a maximum of 300 analog inputs. 12 flexible digital channels and 8 bi-directional digital channels give users even more flexibility. 4 high-speed counter inputs allow the DT80M to easily connect to most data measurement sources and sensors including SDI-12 and Modbus. Logger memory stores up to 10 million data points, and USB memory stick data collection allows users a hassle-free option for data transfer.
Featuring sophisticated remote monitoring communications, the DT80M connects to a PC either locally, remotely or over the Internet via its Ethernet and USB ports, all the way from its field location. Additionally, the logger’s failsafe DETERMINEDTM communications feature constantly retries downloads interrupted by network outages until the file goes through so that users don’t experience any gaps in their data. Rugged and compact construction along with its broad operating temperature range of -45°C to 70°C (-49°F to 158°F) enables the dataTaker DT80M’s operation even in extreme environments, and the datalogger can also run on external battery or solar power for extended time periods.
Personnel no longer have to travel out to the device to access recorded data—the DT80M’s internal modem schedules all data to be automatically emailed to a specified inbox every day, week, month, or other time interval. Other advanced data logging systems can utilize this feature to send logged data to an FTP server. Configurable alarm conditions can also trigger data delivery in addition to sending alarm messages to multiple email addresses or mobile phones via SMS messaging, with the datalogger’s internal FTP server providing data to an office over the internet or mobile phone network without the need for any polling or specific host software.
Free dataTaker dEX software lets users configure the DT80M directly in a web browser, remotely access all logged data, and view real time measurements as mimics or charts using a Windows Explorer-style graphical interface. This intuitive software easily guides users through configuration, suiting both new and veteran users. The datalogger’s integral modem is predominately preconfigured for simple setup using the dEX operator interface, and even lets users reconfigure the system via the Internet.
