Product Spec Sheet

Temperature Data Logger with USB Interfaces

This standalone data logger measures and stores up to 16,382 temperature readings over a -35 to +80°C (-31 to +176°F) range. The user can easily set up the logging rate and start-time and download the stored data by plugging the data logger into a PC's USB port and running the purpose designed software under Windows 2000, XP, and Vista (32-bit). Data can then be graphed printed and exported to other applications. The data logger is supplied complete with a long-life lithium battery which can typically allow logging for 1 year. Correct functioning of the unit is indicated by flashing red, green, and orange LEDs. The data logger is protected against moisture to IP67 standard when the protective cap is fitted.

LED Flashing Modes

EL-USB-1 features 2 LEDs.

  • The first LED flashes green or red to indicate alarm level status.
  • The second LED flashes orange to indicate a problem condition on the EL-USB-1.

It will flash red when logged temperature has exceeded a Low or High alarm level. By default hold is disabled. In this mode the red LED will no longer continue to flash after the logged temperature has returned to normal from an alarm condition.

Hold can be turned on via the control software. In this mode the red LED that indicates an alarm condition will continue to flash, even after the logged temperature has returned to normal. The red LED will effectively have latched into its alarm condition. This feature ensures that the use is notified that an alarm level has been exceeded, without the need to download the data from the logger.

EasyLog Software

The core of Lascar's data logging solution is the free software supplied with each data logger. Using a wizard format to guide the user through setup of the data logger and subsequent download of collected data, the software puts the 'easy' into EasyLog.

The EL-DataPad allows users of Lascar’s EL-USB data loggers to configure their units and download data and view logging results on-thespot rather than removing the logger from the environment being measured and taking it to their PC. This allows continual logging with shorter breaks in data collection, less travel for the user, on-site data collection in graph, legend and summary format and the ability for users to reconfigure loggers in ‘the field’.

The logger is connected to the EL-DataPad via a standard USB port at the top of the viewer. Once connected, the user is guided through a simple touchscreen menu with options to Set-Up Logger, Stop Logger & Download and View Data. On-screen instructions follow the same structure as Lascar’s EL-USB-WIN software for PC currently provided with each data logger.

Data from up to 100 loggers can be viewed on the EL-DataPad, with data from a further 400 units stored on the unit at any one time. Data can be transferred to a PC or Mac using a micro USB cable supplied with the unit. Once uploaded, data is saved in comma separated variable (csv) format, making it suitable for import into spreadsheet packages such as Microsoft Excel or graphed on a PC using Lascar’s EL-WIN-USB software .

The EL-DataPad is compatible with the following EL-USB data loggers: EL-USB-1, EL-USB-1-LCD, EL-USB-1-PRO, EL-USB-2, EL-USB-2+, EL-USB-2-LCD, EL-USB-2-LCD+, EL-USB-TC, EL-USB-TC-LCD, EL-USB-LITE.
