RTD Data Loggers

RTD Data Loggers, or Resistance Temperature Detector data loggers, are suitable for use with resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensors. These sensors provide improved temperature measurement accuracy over thermocouples but have a more limited temperature measurement range.

An RTD works by changing resistance in a very predictable way in proportion to changes in temperature. There are several different “curves”  that define the resistance vs. temperature characteristic so it is important to make sure that the data logger supports the correct calibration curve for the sensor being used. Also, some loggers support 2, 3 or 4 wire RTDs that allow for compensation for the effects of the resistance of the lead wires for more accurate measurements.
