How to Lock the Display Screen in Profisignal Software

ProfiSignal for Visualization, Analysis and Automation

Delphin Technology has added a convenient new feature in its new firmware update for ProfiSignal software. Version 260 completely revises and improves the display functions available for Delphin Expert devices. This quick walkthrough from Delphin and CAS DataLoggers shows you how to lock the display screen, increasing data security in your application.

Versatile Display Settings

New functions now enable ProfiSignal users to make direct settings for:
• WLAN and WWAN
• LAN/Ethernet
• USB

You can perform these settings directly from the display. Important settings include the IP address, net mask, gateway and a range of interface settings. Additionally, it’s now easier to connect multiple Delphin Expert dataloggers to a PC via USB.

The ability to set a range of parameters via the display also requires tamper proofing. With this in mind, Delphin has developed its new display lock option. After you’ve enabled the lock feature, Delphin’s default touchscreen operation is possible only after entering your previously- assigned 4-digit PIN (Personal Identification Number). Otherwise the display will not function.

The display lock is easy to configure and enable using the Delphin DataService’s Display Settings menu. Under the Main Settings tab, just check the Display Lock checkbox and enter your PIN on the left and right. Now set a lock duration and you’re finished—see the screenshot below.

Once the display is locked, the following symbol appears:

When the display is next clicked, ProfiSignal will request the user to enter the correct PIN #. If the display is not used within the set period or for a long enough duration, the display automatically switches off and goes into Lock Mode, similar to a mobile phone.

Why Delphin?

Delphin data loggers and control solutions solve a broad range of tasks in industrial applications including data measurement, monitoring, and control functions. These German-manufactured systems maximize communications flexibility while also featuring the ability to take measurements and execute control functions all on their own.

Delphin’s new Expert series features different analog and digital I/O modules that can be used with a wide range of signal types including: voltage; 4-20 mA current; thermocouple; RTD; and resistance. They also offer powerful alarm and programming capabilities enabling these instruments to process data readings while also activating a relay, PLC, etc. Delphin systems can be used for local data acquisition and logging when connected to a PC; for remote unattended data collection connected the internet; or as stand-alone devices.

At CAS DataLoggers, we can supply a custom Delphin system for your specific application. You can speak with one of our experienced Applications Engineers by calling (800) 956-4437. We’ll be happy to help you with your project.
