USB Data Loggers

USB data loggers can be classified into three types:

  • Data loggers with a USB stick form and plug directly into a USB port on a PC for configuration and data downloading.
  • Data loggers with a USB host port that accepts a standard USB stick for data transfer. This makes retrieving data from a device in the field much easier; just plug in a stick, offload the data and take it back to your office.
  • Data loggers with a standard USB interface for configuration and data download. Nearly every manufacturer represented offers data loggers or data acquisition systems with a USB interface.

Advantages of USB Data Loggers:

  • Using a USB stick greatly simplifies data retrieval. In the case of data loggers that are built into a USB stick, you simply plug the stick into a PC and use the software supplied with the logger to read the data—no extra cables or docking stations are required.
  • By packaging all of the electronics in a small USB stick form factor, manufacturers can keep the cost low. These satisfy the needs of simple applications that require only a single measurement with a fixed sample rate and no or limited alarm notification.
  • These USB loggers can transfer data to a USB stick to make it even easier by adding the ability to upload data to the stick while the logger is running in the field. Then, simply take the stick back to your PC where you can analyze and/or archive the data.
  • Many of the loggers can transfer the data as a .CSV file that can be read directly by programs like Microsoft Excel.

USB DATA LOGGING APPLICATION ARTICLE

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
